After an excellent first season in Serie A, Marash Kumbulla is set to be rewarded with an extension. In fact last week Hellas Verona had a positive first meeting to discuss a new deal to protect all parties involved.
The potential new contract wouldn't preclude a sale this summer, especially considering the center back is in high demand, with Lazio zeroing in one him to improve their defense. The new deal would be a sort of insurance since it would give Kumbulla a salary more in line with his worth should he stay, while also giving Verona more leverage in negotiations with other clubs since his current deal expires in 2022.
