After being confirmed by Montella, the official announcement of the transfer to Fiorentina of 1999-born fullback Aleksa Terzic from Red Star Belgrade has been made. Fiorentina close the deal for a fee around €1.7m, however there was some difficulty in completing the operation. Months ago, Terzic took his medicals in secret, and as his club were initally opposed, were pressing him to renew his contract set to expire in a year.
But he remained firm in his decision, despite his demotion to the club's second team as punishment, and kept his word to Fiorentina. The deal was unblocked in February after Red Star understood that Terzic would not renew his contract. The fullback will take part in the U21 Euros with Serbia, after which he will join his new club in Florence. Terzic is the latest addition by sporting director Corvino, and he has been dubbed 'The new Kolarov' Here is the club's official statement:
"ACF Fiorentia announces it has acquired on an outright purchase the sporting rights of the player Aleksa Terzic from Fudbalski Klub Crvena Zvezda. Terzic, born in Belgrade on 17/08/1999 has worn the shirt of Serbia at all youth international levels"
