SPAL has chosen Giorgio Zamuner to replace Vagnati. A choice of the heart, for a manager that knows the Ferrara environment well. As a player, he was a midfielder and key member of the team that brought the team from C2 to Serie B in two years. Those were the years of Fabbri -- 1990-1992 -- a true maestro of football.
Zamuner, 55, took his learnings and experiences as a player to transition to management once he decided to end his career as a player. He gained experience by working for Pordenone and Padova, where he had signed a contract as the General Director until June 2020. He terminated the contract a few weeks ago, as Vagnati was moving on to Torino.
SPAL considered many names, but he was the strongest of them all. Now Zamuner is ready to return to Ferrara with a different type of shirt and the goal to strengthen his Ferrara roots that never went away.
