Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen has extended his contract with the club, it was announced today. Due to the player's breakout efforts in Serie A, Inter had expressed interest in the Andersen. In the last few weeks, the nerazzurri began talks to try to beat out competition for the player. Now, the 22 year-old Dane has signed a new contract until 2022, with a raise, but no exit clause: meaning an eventual purchase fee would have to be agreed to by the club. The announcement from Sampdoria:
"President Massimo Ferrero and U.C. Sampdoria announce the extension of the contract to the playing rights of Joachim Christian Andersen. Much to everyone's satisfaction the defender - who has appeared in 20 matches - will remain with the blucerchiato until 30 June 2022."
