While Roma players are getting ready to return to the pitch, Gianluca Petrachi is focused on the future. The giallorossi's sporting director was asked about Smalling and Mkhitatyan's situations after joining Roma on loan last summer during an interview with Sky Sport:"The numbers don't lie, they have been two successful loans. We unfortunately lost Mkhitaryan for phsycal problem for a little bit, but he's very comfortable here just like Smalling. We'll do everything we can to keep them, especially since they want to stay here. We'll find out in the future if we are able to or not, but I feel the players are on my side"
With the season being delayed there have been questions on if Roma will be able to keep the two players, as well as Kalinic past June 30th when their loans technically expire:"They are all very comfortable here. Now we need to wait, see how the situation evolves and handle everything. I have daily contact with them, I'm fairly confident they want to finish the season with us"
