José Mourinho has a great still of remaining attached to the squads he's managed, especially when you see how fond Inter, Chelsea and Porto fans remain of him. The Portuguese club had tried to bring him back to manage just a few years ago, as president Pinto De Costa made an attempt at the 'Special One' as he had a contract signed with Manchester United.
"We were without a manager for a good half of the season. Therefore, I spoke with Mourinho and asked him if he was available to come to Porto until the end of the year, and then complete his transfer to United. It seemed like an impossible thing, but Mou quickly told me yes. Then we began to think if it'd truly happen, but Manchester United didn't give us the approval. They said no, explaining that we could've met in European competitions. Mourinho was ready to coach Porto for a half season in a moment of emergency. A fact that wasn't publicized much, but shows how much love he has for our club."
