Politano, yes, but not just him. After Demme and Lobotka -- to those you can also add Rrahmani from Verona -- Napoli continues to move within the market. The objective for the azzurri is to improve their attack, as Mertens is still suffering and Llorente that may leave just 6 months after arriving. Other than Politano, Gattuso may soon count on another reinforcement: another number 9 that can rotate with Milik in the center forward role.
For attack, the name Jean-Phillippe Mateta is, along with Petagna, at the top of the list for sporting director Giuntoli. The class of '97 attacker for France's U21 team has appeared 5 times and scored only twice this year. Regardless, Napoli is convinced that he could be a great acquisition for the future.
The discussions is different for Petagna, who after a great experience with Atalanta, has become a star with SPAL. He scored 17 goals last season and already 8 in the first part of this season. It will be rather difficuly to convince the Ferrara club to sell the striker, as they're fighting for salvation. After a first offer of 20 million, though, De Laurentiis upped the amount to 21 million plus bonus to bring Petagna to Naples.
SPAL hopes to keep Petagna until the end of the season, maybe finding an agreement with Napoli because the player can soon leave for the azzurri, remaining on loan in Ferrara until next June. Napoli's intention is to quickly acquire the player and integrate him into the roster, and the club is continuing to push in the next hours to close the deal.
