According to Sky Sport's Alessandro Alciato, Milan administrator Ivan Gazidis has informed Paolo Maldini that Ralf Rangnick will take over as manager and technical director, among other roles, next season. This confirms the news from some time ago about a deal following a meeting in Vienna after the, lockdown was lifted. Maldini is currently the technical director and he is under contract until 2022. He was offered a role as Milan's Ambassador and he will decide in the coming days whether or not to accept. Maldini has previously refused similar offers from Milan and the FIGC in the past. The annoucement comes during a positive moment for the club, who are seeing the results of the work put in by Pioli. In January, Milan sold Piatek and Suso for 51 million euros and spent only 6.5 million euros on Saelemaekers. They reduced their payroll by 20 million euros. Maldini and Massara would be leaving behind important acquistions such as Theo Hernandez and Bennacer, who would generate future profit.
