After 344 matches in Serie A and 92 goals, Alessandro Matri has decided to retire from football. The attacker made the announcement while he was a guest on Casa Sky Sport.
"I also expected a few more goals from myself, but I have no regrets. I believe that I achieved my dreams. When I look back on professional football, it's difficult to think of a career like this and winning three scudetti. I surely cannot complain. I've annulled the deal with Brescia, but I think I'll stop. I don't think I'll continue. This year I made the decision, seeing how the past 6 months of the season have gone. A bit of stimuli is missing and some responses on the pitch, when certain things are missing, reflections are necessary."
"I didn't want to be 'supported' anymore and it's not part of my character to remain where I cannot give something. A few requests have come, I evaluated them and understood that I would not go with the right mentality. Therefore I preferred to avoid them and not be foolish."
