Lazio are looking to make an addition to Simone Inzaghi's front line before the window closes. Lotito's club reached an agreement with Olivier Giroud who has an expiring contract, at this point the only thing missing is Chelsea's approval.
The Blues are pursuing Dries Mertens and are willing to pay Napoli between €6 and €7 million to let him join Lampard's squad, but Napoli turned down the proposal. At their end Chelsea weren't interested in the idea of purchasing Mertens now and keeping him on loan at Napoli until the end of the season. Regardless of Chelsea's pursuit of Mertens, Lazio are pushing to sign Giroud.
