Inter have stepped up their interest in Hellas Verona's defender Marash Kumbulla. The Albanian international, who has been one of the breakout young players of the Serie A season so far, has been in the radar of the Nerazzurri since last January, when also Napoli had shown interest in him.

The partenopei's chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis had even reached an agreement with Verona for deal in the region of €25 million, however the player and his entourage decided to take some time to evaluate their options before making a definitive decision. In the last few days, Napoli have reignited their interest in the 20-year-old offering the same terms they had already presented last January. However, the player, despite appreciating the interest from Napoli, seems to be leaning towards declining their offer.

For their part, Inter keep monitoring the situation as they have also been in talks with all the parties involved and it looks like they have a clear path to landing the 20-year-old defender, unless better offer come from other clubs abroad, namely from Germany. Verona have set their asking price at 30 million, however there's room for negotiations. The Gialloblu however have already made clear that they don't want include any player as part of the deal. Inter will now ponder the right strategy to secure the signature of the young centre-back and they could reach the finish line with the funds coming from future outgoings.
