Inter are starting to prepare to life after Lukaku as the Belgian's transfer to Chelsea is all but official. The Nerazzurri's strategy is to use part of the proceeds of the Lukaku sale to bring in three new reinforcements for coach Inzaghi: a wing-back and two strikers, one of which will have to be on a free transfer or on loan.
Dutch right-back Dumfries is still Inter's first choice for the right side. The Nerazzurri have reopened talks for the 25-year-old of PSV.
As for the replacement of Lukaku, Inter are waiting for all the pieces of the jigsaw to fall into place. The only issue standing between the Nerazzurri and Zapata is the Colombian's replacement at Atalanta. In this regard, on Sunday Atalanta's director Percassi and Chelsea's Marina Granovskaia will meet to discuss a deal for Tammy Abraham, who has been individuated as the potential replacement of Duvan Zapata. Should not all the pieces fall into place, Inter could shift their focus on Lazio's Joaquin Correa.
As for Edin Dzeko, Inter have offered a two-year deal to the Bosnian striker and are waiting for an answer from Roma. The Giallorossi had in fact promised to their striker that they would have let him go, should a significant offer be submitted to him. However, after a few weeks of training, Mourinho consider Dzeko a key player in his project.
Similarly to the Zapata deal, Roma would have to find a suitable replacement before considering giving the go-ahead, coming from Friedkin, for the transfer of the former Manchester City striker to Inter. Roma are already sounding out the market for a replacement, in order to keep the promise made to the player.
A potential alternative to Dzeko could be Sassuolo's young striker Gianluca Scamacca.
