Thiago Motta's Genoa team continues to fall in the standings and suffered a tough loss in the Derby della Lanterna yesterday against Sampdoria.
The standings are concerning to the club, but they've decided to continue with Motta for at least the team's next match against Inter. Motta dealt with some bad luck during the Sampdoria match, with Agudelo and Pandev disqualified from the game, Zapata and Kouamè missing with injury, and then Sturaro and Favilli leaving the match late.
The team will move forward with Motta, though, hoping that he can turn things around. If he cannot, Davide Ballardini is already rumored to be considered as an alternative. Genoa president Preziosi once called Motta a future star at coaching, stating that within two years he'd coach a big club. For now, though, Motta is coaching to save his job and Genoa's place in this year's standings.
