The deal had to be reached by June 30th and that ended up being the case. Chelsea will in fact redeem the rights to Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid for a fee of €50 million, bonuses included. The former Inter midfielder will sign his contract by Saturday, there are just a few details remaining on the wages.
The deal was possible despite the Blues’ transfer ban since Kovacic was already matriculated with the club following his previous loan spell.
