Roma-Juventus, a taste of Serie A in the New England Patriots' home

Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts is used to hosting champions and today it welcomed the two top teams in Serie A from last season. Juventus defeated Roma on penalty kicks in the last match of the International Champions Cup, but the real winners were the many American and Canadian Calcio fans who never got the chance to see the likes of Gigi Buffon and Radja Nainggolan in person until today.

Before the game many fans congregated in the parking lots to tailgate- an American tradition where people eat and drink while socializing. Buffon received the biggest ovations though out the match, and after the penalty shout out he congratulated third string keeper Pinsoglio for his excellent efforts.

Fittingly both Mandzukic and Dzeko scored, unlike some of their teammates they certainly weren't treating today's match as a friendly. In the second half, Federico Bernardeschi made his debut for Juventus and during the penalty shout out he scored his first goal as a member of the bianconeri. Gillette Stadium will now go back to hosting the New England Patriots' home games, but for one afternoon it felt like the stadio Olimpico.
