"I'm now thinking about becoming a good sports commentator but I'd like to coach a national team". Words from Francesco Guidolin, interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport. The former Udinese, Parma and Palermo coach has talked about the current Serie A and compared Atalanta that keeps doing well this years and his Udinese that surprised a lot of people between 2010 and 2014.

"My Udinese team started with the classic objective of 40 points, then in February we realized we could do more: in four years we've reached a fourth position in Serie A, went two times in preliminary round of Champions League and once in Europa League. That team was strong like today's Atalanta but people weren't speaking a lot about them, I don't know why. I suffered from it, I'm from Venice but I feel Friulian".

About the Nerazzuri: "Percassi showed he was already a genius when he worked with me. He fired me after 10 games but it was only fair. You could see in 1993 I wasn't ready yet to begin in Serie A but I also remember that this team got relegated, so substituting me didn't get a lot of results. That was good to me though".

"I like Gasperini a lot, he's got an intense playing style, aggressive, with a high pressing, organization and man to man marking system. I think Atalanta could get back to Europe even if it would be difficult. If Ilicic finds the right coach he can do great things while I'm crazy about Gomez. He's not big but he never loses his brilliance".

"Is today's team without a soul? The club's choices have always been to look for foreigners, the coach makes the group and then loses the best players. I remember that, at my first experience with Udinese in 1998 in a summer friendly, I chose a 11 foreigners lineup. It's common now, but then it was different".

"I'm happy about my career, I don't get offended if people call me a province coach. When I wanted to coach a big team, they didn't want me. When they did, I refused. It happened with Napoli. I'd like to try the experience to coach a national team. Is Italy looking for a trainer? I've said A national team, not THE "Nazionale" ".
