FIGC vice-commissioner Alessandro Costacurta announced a major change in the structure of Italian football in an interview with the magazine Undici. Costacurta revealed in fact that from next season Serie A clubs could have reserve teams, which will play in the Lega Pro, the third division of Italian football: "Serie A clubs can choose to have a reserve team that will play in the Lega Pro. They will replace the clubs that won't be able to join the league. Reserve teams will also made up entirely of under 21 players, except for the possibility to play two under 23s. They will need to have a minimum number of players eligible for the Italian national team: the exact number is yet to be decided. They can get promoted or relegated but they will never be able to play in the same division as their respective first teams", Costacurta concluded.
